The Inspiration Behind CREW: Jayden's Story

Inspired by my son Jayden, CREW was created to offer a positive, inclusive space for young people.

Jayden’s journey highlighted the need for a community where everyone feels valued and supported.

A Vision for the Future: Supporting Growth and Dreams

Our vision is to help members find the right school or career path and support their journey toward a fulfilling future.

“My hope is that CREW becomes a stepping stone for young people, helping them discover their true potential,” says Dominic, CREW founder and Jayden’s father.

About Us:

Jayden, a 15-year-old from Fairfield, New Jersey, is a kind-hearted and empathetic teenager who faces significant challenges due to his cognitive difficulties. Despite being in a self-contained classroom since age four, he remains outgoing and funny, always striving to connect with others.

Over the years, his father has made numerous efforts to integrate Jayden into the community by involving him in sports and reaching out to others, but unfortunately, these attempts often resulted in further alienation, contrary to their goal. Jayden deeply values friendships and seeks meaningful connections, but some peers have put up a brick wall, not recognizing his worth.

Although this rejection is disheartening, he has learned to stand up for himself, a quality that has caused friction and led to him being unfairly labeled as the bad guy. Jayden wanted to be included with kids he shared memories with, but since they have declined, he is ready to move on. Jayden truly wants the best for all his peers.

In 2021, he was awarded the Citizenship Award at school, a testament to his positive spirit and caring nature. Some of his peers might be envious of his ability to be comfortable in his own skin and his genuine happiness. As one of his teachers summed up perfectly, “Jayden does not have a single malicious bone in his body and so desperately wants to succeed – in academics and socially.” Despite the challenges he faces, Jayden continues to show resilience and determination, always hoping for a more inclusive and accepting community.

Dominic Capone is a friendly and passionate individual with a deep love for music, having seen his favorite band, Pearl Jam, over 60 times. An avid sports fan, he supports passionately the Broncos, Avalanche, Lakers, and Mets since he was little. Raised by his mother and father to always do what is right, Dominic has carried these values throughout his life. A Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls graduate, he began his higher education at community college before transferring to Montclair State University, where he earned a degree in English and studied abroad in Siena, Italy.

In high school, Dominic got along with everyone and has carried that passion for connecting with diverse people into his professional life. He remains close friends with many of his classmates from high school and even grammar school, chatting daily and supporting each other through life’s new chapters. Dominic has been working at Giovatto, an advertising company for the past 15 years, creating TV, radio commercials, and marketing campaigns, and prides himself on his ability to connect with anyone.

Dominic has also been a steadfast presence at his family’s pizzeria, Dominick’s Pizza, which opened in 1979. Since he was 15, he has been working at the pizzeria and connecting with people.

Dominic and his wife Gina are the proud parents of three children: their son Jayden and two younger daughters, Kylie and Siena. Despite efforts to integrate Jayden into the community through sports and social events, he often faced alienation. They tried to include him in various activities, hoping to build connections with his peers, but these attempts sometimes backfired. However, Dominic remains determined to foster an inclusive environment for all kids, leading to the creation of CREW, a community program dedicated to helping kids in need.

Why Elephant?

Elephants are highly social animals that live in tight-knit family groups. They display strong bonds, cooperation, and a sense of community within their herds.

The loyalty, wisdom, and teamwork exhibited by elephants align with the collaborative spirit often associated with the concept of a “CREW.”
